Building a Monument Honoring Black Survivors of Sexual and Reproductive Violations

These past two-years, we've been building a monument to survivors, honoring Black survivors of sexual and reproductive violations from slavery to contemporary times. Whether suffered at the hands of the state or someone you know in community, the home or other space, we need more survivors to join us, place a stone and bring the monument to completion. Honor what it takes for survivors to take flight to freedom. Exactly two years after the Tribunal of the Black Women's Truth and Reconciliation Commission on Sexual Assault which ended on May 1, 2016, building a monument to our survival has been our honor at Black Women's Blueprint. The BWTRC was a groundbreaking and watershed moment in the lives for Black women and Black communities across the African Diaspora. We call on community to bring radical love, your definitions of justice, your innovation, your generosity of spirit, a meal to share or libations, and join us at our First Mondays Member Meeting to break bread, celebrate and acknowledge the work of the BWTRC. Let's Celebrate Truth, Justice, Healing and Reconciliation as each one continue the work of building the BWTRC Monument to Survivors by placing a stone where our hearts lead our hands.
